The Racine Art Guild is hosting a fabulous fall workshop with ceramic artist Jan Janzer. Jen has worked for the RAM Wustum as a ceramics instructor since 2021. She is the new director of the Artists Gallery in downtown Racine where you can regularly see her artwork. She has a ceramics studio at 16th Street Studios. Last year she opened her own ceramics classroom also at 16th Street.

In this workshop you will use large leaves to create ceramic plates. You may bring your own very large leaves from hostas, sunflowers, catalpa, etc. If you don’t have any, there will be some available the use. The class will include all the materials necessary to create your own unique plate. You will use the leaf to form the shape. Then you will color your clay with underglazes and/or oxide washes. The clay will be bisque fired by Jen after it dries thoroughly. Jen will apply a clear glaze and refire the work for you. Your beautiful leave plates will be ready for the holidays!
