Member Meeting: Liz Siercks ~ From Copley to Cassat

Liz Siercks will take us through major movements and figures of American visual art from the country's beginnings as a fledgling democracy through the end of the Victorian era. Learn about  pragmatic portraiture, images of the West in popular culture, and the hidden meaning of landscapes.

Liz holds a BFA in art history and comparative literature and an MFA in art history with a certification in art museum studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before joining the Racine Art Museum staff, Liz was an art history instructor at Alverno College in Milwaukee teaching introductory courses on the renaissance and western art (the prehistoric to the middle ages), and a seminar on Chinese art.  Specializing in 19th century American art, she is currently the Curatorial Assistant at the Racine Art Museum.
