Jerry Belland has been an exhibiting artist and a teacher of visual art in the Racine area for nearly 50 years. He has won over 100 awards and prizes in juried exhibits and art fairs both local and national. He was one of the first four winners of the Racine Art Museum fellowship in 2012.
His presentation will talk about the path his work has taken him since his Fellowship exhibit in 2013. He’ll be talking about his ongoing series “Memorial Drive Journal.” He’ll also examine the joys and tribulations of self-publishing four books. He’ll explore the concept of keeping in touch with one’s creative energies and not letting of that inner child that “just wants to make stuff.” The intent here is to share how the creative path has can pull an artist one way…then another. Through sharing this story perhaps we can all feel more energized and confident as artists and creative people.
